Oh yea, we rolled the dice, and although we might not have come up with lucky 7, we didn't get snake eyes. Grant and Spencer trekked out to the manmade oasis that is Vegas to brave the crazyness of neon lights and endless buffets to race some 'cross.
On the balance, they made out pretty well. Sure, Spencer almost highsided himself into a course stake on the first lap (exciting much ire from those behind), and yes, he also pulled a first-rate slip-and-slide move on one of the mellowest, most un-technical corners of the course. But it wasn't so bad. At least Joachim didn't call him fat (right Grant?).
And just for the heck of it, we decided to press our luck with the inaugural Valmont Bike Park race the following Sunday. Painful? Yes. But definitely worthwhile to check out this premiere venue and bask in glory of the Colorado 'cross scene. October is almost here, and my bet is that the deck is stacked in our favor...
