Silicosis is No Laughing Matter

Colorado 'cross. It could be cold, snowy and wet, and it could also be broiling hot and dusty as the Oklahoma Panhandle circa 1933. This past weekend, at the second Boulder Racing event at Xilinx, it was the latter. Let's just say we were all glad we went with the short-sleeve Curve skinsuits for the early part of the season.

So, we all lined up, ready to inhale a potentially harmful quantity of grade-A Colorado dust, and it was off to the races. Spencer was riding a great race, and then... he wasn't. He had a little run-in with a piece of course tape on the fastest (25 mph fast) part of the course, and his merry little four-rider chase group all made an impromptu pig pile in the middle of the track. Ouch. Miraculously, no one was hurt. If ever there was question about the durability of those Carroll carbon wheels, I'd say this proved once and for all that they can take a beating.

Spencer ended up soldiering on to a solid 9th place, and Grant also had a solid race in 30th. Bonus for Grant this race is that he didn't have to tear his front derailleur apart with his bare hands to fix it, like he did last weekend at Valmont!
