Head of the class @ Schoolyard CX

The boys took two well-earned podium spots at this past Saturday's Schoolyard CX race in Brighton, CO.  While last year's course feature tons of power oriented slogs through choppy field grass, this year's condition warranted potential designation as a dirt criterium. Gone was the grass and in its place was hard packed near pavement like dirt conditions, made sensationally fast but also surprisingly fun by a creative course design from Boups and Clint Bickmore.

The weather was once again high and dry which made for a dazzlingly debut of the 2013 Specialized Crux Pro bikes that we'd excitedly built up the night before.  During warm up whenever any of us would pass through the S/F, we'd hear Larry Grossman over the PA cat calling out the red hot bikes in action. And we can tell you not only do they look good, but they performed incredibly well.

From the gun, Spencer and Josh settled into the lead group with young gun Yannick Eckmann and the ever shrewd and experienced Russell Stevenson. Grant was on our heels but suffered a dropped chain and dab that dropped him off the pace and to the pits, where he teamed up with Scott to pull back riders through the rest of the race.  A few laps in, Yannick dropped the hammer and no one could respond, resulting in a long drag for the remaining 4-5 laps and Spencer taking 3rd and Josh 4th.

Watch this space for a more intimate review of our new rigs as we test them on the rugged and soon to be muddy and snow filed Colorado courses.
