If you grew up in a football town, you know all about the ritualistic send-off a local high school team gets before they head to state championships or another significant event. The pep rally is a town's way of saying "Go get 'em!" Cyclocross may lack cheerleaders (too cold and muddy), pep bands (our announcers prefer techno and Guns 'n Roses) and booster clubs (although we do have nice sponsors), but we've still got spirit... Yes we do!
Last Saturday's New Year's Resolution race at Valmont was the Colorado community's way of sending off our Nationals-bound racers with style and a bit of mud. The course was a simplified version of the usual track, the snow kept things slippery and fun and the vibe was laid-back and festive. Jess, Breeze, Grant and Spencer all got in one last tune-up race before they head to Madison this weekend.
